Fjord Farm Hiking

Combine a sightseeing trip on the Geirangerfjord with a hike to the fjord farm of Skageflå. Skageflå is the best known of the fjord farms along the Geirangerfjord. The King and Queen of Norway celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at Skageflå in 1993. It was also here at Skageflå that an official UNESCO playue was unveiled by Queen sonja on the 12. june 2006.

The ascent is demanding and starts at Skagehola, where the boat drops you off. The path up to Skageflå is steep and breathtaking, with a fantastic view over the Geirangerfjord. Skageflå is perched on a mountain ledge approximately 270m height.

From Skageflå it is possible to walk over the mountain back to Geiranger – or you can take the same path back down to the fjord and be picked up again by M/S Geirangerfjord.

Information

The tour starts with M/S Geirangerfjord from Geiranger at scheduled departure times. Those who want to combine the trip with a hike can be dropped off at one of the footpaths leading up to a fjord farm.

Return tickets must be pre-booked for a specific departure. There are separate rates for these trips.
Skageflå is the only fjord farm for which it is possible to buy a one-way ticket. From here it is possible to follow a marked footpath back over the mountain to Geiranger.

If you want to walk to Blomberg fjord farm, calculate 45 minutes from leaving Geiranger until arrival at Syltevik (the drop-off point for Blomberg).

This will be the time for both dropping off and picking up. Note that the 17:00 departure is the last departure time that will allow for a return.

If you want to combine a sightseeing trip with a hike to a fjord farm, you have the following possibilities:

• ONE-WAY: 1½ hours sightseeing on the Geirangerfjord with a drop-off at Skagehola on the way back to Geiranger. If you want to hike back to Geiranger, you can follow the path over the mountain. The hike back to Geiranger takes approximately 1½ - 2½ hours. Note that Skageflå is the only fjord farm for which it is possible to buy a one-way ticket.

• RETURN: 1½ hours sightseeing on the Geirangerfjord with a drop-off at your chosen fjord farm. Return on one of the scheduled departures. Your preferred return time must be pre-booked.
Note that it is not possible to buy a fjord farm return ticket for our 17:00 departure.

General information

Pre-booked/payed tickets for M/S Geirangerfjord must be available at boarding.
Reserved tickets (not yet paid), must be picked up at the ticket counter at least 30 minutes before departure.
Boarding and ticket control starts 10 minutes before departure
Payment can be online, cash or credit at arrival
Ticket office is stationed inside Geiranger Tourist Information, to the left from entrance.

Return Ticket

RETURN TICKET: 1½ hours sightseeing on the Geirangerfjord with a drop-off at your chosen fjord farm. Return on one of the scheduled departures. Your preferred return time must be pre-booked.

Note that it is not possible to buy a fjord farm return ticket for our 17:00 departure.

One-way ticket

ONE-WAY TICKET: 1½ hours sightseeing on the Geirangerfjord with a drop-off at Skagehola on the way back to Geiranger. If you want to hike back to Geiranger, you can follow the path over the mountain. The hike back to Geiranger takes approximately 1½ - 2½ hours.
